Setup the firewall to allow our software to connect to the server

The correct configuration of the firewall is important to allow our software to connect to the server.

Inside the firewall's control panel will be a list of programs and permissions for each program file. These permissions are set by default the first time you run our program under the firewall. It will ask you what to do, and if you press 'OK' and accept their recommendation, the program is then blocked.

To correct this, you'll need to locate that list of programs and allow them unrestricted access. Usually, there's an option like 'Permit all' or similar.

Configuring your security software

The process will be something like the instructions below, though the location will be different in each firewall:

  1. Open the firewall control panel (often, you double-click the firewall icon near the Windows system clock or locate it under the start menu).
  2. Press the 'Programs' tab (or otherwise locate the program list).
  3. You'll find these items in the program list:
    • PokerStars.exe
    • PokerStarsUpdate.exe
    • PokerStarsCommunicate.exe
    • PokerstarsBr.exe
    • PokerStarsComp.exe (.NET only)
    • Tracer.exe
    • xc.exe
    • xcw.exe
    • xcwxp.exe

For each of these, changing 'Block All' to 'Permit All' (or to the least restrictive permissions) should be enough to permit you to access the site.

The instructions may vary depending on your security software brand and version. If you need further help, contact the vendor of your firewall software.
